Chief Warrant Officer 3 Billy Paul Baker (US Army, Ret.), 81, the widower of Edna Smoak Baker, of North Charleston, S.C., died July 18, 2001.
He was born May 8, 1920, in Clarksburg, W.Va., a son of the late Willis W. Baker and Cora Brown Baker.
He was a graduate of West Virginia Schools. He was a retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer, Level 3 (CW03) where he served in the Pacific theater during World War II and the Korean War. He was a Mason,a member of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Omar Shrine Temple.
He was Methodist. He is survived by, daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and G. Hollis Cone of Wadmalaw Island, SC; daughter, Linda L. Baker of Tularosa, NM; one sister, Louise Yearsley of Millsboro, DE; one brother, Teddy Baker of Greenville, SC; three grandchildren, Dr. Holley Cone of Wadmalaw Island, SC, Dr. Courtney Cone of Jacksonville, FL, and Ashley Clayton Cone of Atlanta, GA.; one great-grandchild, Spencer Hewitt of Wadmalaw Island, SC.
