Jesse J. Coffman , 83, of Sissonville died Tuesday, April 4, 2006.

Jesse was a 1942 graduate of Sissonville High School and served from 1942 to 1945 in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 5th Army Airborne Division, during World War II. After his military service, he graduated from Morris Harvey College with a BA degree in education and taught in Kanawha County at Morning Star and Sissonville Elementary schools. He was a retired operator from FMC, South Charleston, with 34 years of service and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

He was also a member of South Charleston Masonic Lodge 168 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies and Odd Fellows Lodge 25, a charter member of Sissonville Lions Club and a former member of the Kanawha County Republican Executive Committee.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Boggess; and sister, Audrey Foster.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Talma Fisher Coffman ; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Roger Waldeck of Hot Springs, Va., and Janie and Jim Bailey of Sissonville; grandchildren and their spouses, Jack and Kristi Bailey, Lee and Shannon Waldeck, Amy and Edward Walton and Aaron and Megan Bailey; and great-grandchildren, Alexander and Ethan Bailey, Forest and Hunter Waldeck and Logan, Ben and Erin Walton.
