Cayce – A Graveside service for Cecil Orlin Cox, 92, of Cayce, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2014 in Celestial Memorial Gardens followed by Military Honors. Reverend Steve Kittrell will officiate. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington SC 29073 is assisting the family.

Mr. Cox passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014. He was born in High Knob, KY on October 30, 1921 to the late Luther Thomas Cox and Lucille Mae Longworth Cox. Cecil was married to his first wife, the late Nellie Morgan Cox for 42 years and then married to the late Ona Oswald Cox for 25 years. Mr. Cox was a retired Optical Tech with Pearl Vision Center and Doctors of Optometry on Knox Abbott Drive. He served in the Army as a First Sargent and was a veteran of WWII, where he received the Purple Heart serving in the Philippines under General Douglas MacArthur. Mr. Cox was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of Laurel Baptist Church.

Surviving are his daughters, Nellie Mae Tillman (Tommy) of Gulf, NC and Shirley Ray (Charles) of West Columbia; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren; special friend, Sharon Steele and good friend, Rocky McKnight. In addition to his parents and wives, he was predeceased by his daughter, Nancy Lorine Cox and sister, Helen Georgia Carroll.
