Joe C. Grider

Joe Cordell "J.C." Grider, 87, Glasgow, died Thursday, November 27, 2008, at the NHC Health Care Center. A native of Monroe County, he was a son of the late Wade and Gertrude Hoffman Grider. He was an army veteran of WWII and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a retired salesman and a member of the South Green Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Hope Grider; two daughters, Katheryn "Kathy" Shive and Anita May and her husband, James; two step-sons, Marty Hope and wife, Lisa, and Keith Hope all of Glasgow; five grandchildren, Jim Shive of Louisville, Joey Shive (April), Leticia Reed and Nadia May all of Glasgow, Landon Borders (Sarah) of Lexington; two step-grandchildren, Ryan Hope and Jonathan Hope; 4 great-grandchildren, Zackary, Chase, Cole and Collin; one brother, Otha Grider of Mt. Hermon; two sisters, Eddie Bunch and Juanita Bybee both of Glasgow; a host of special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Melba Bass Grider.
