Dr. William M., went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 26, 2002. He was born the youngest of 8 children in Henryetta, OK on February 19, 1921.

William graduated from Henryetta High School, where he was on the football team. He worked at his father's clothing store until the outbreak of World War II when he joined the Army, and was a Medical Technician and Charter Member of the U.S.S. Hope from 1941-1945.

He went to the University of Oklahoma, where he obtained degrees in Pharmacology, Master's of Pharmacology and Business, and worked as a Pharmacist at the Medical Arts Building in Tulsa, OK. Later, he went to dental school at the Kansas City Missouri Western Dental College, and was Chief of Dental Services at the Kansas State Mental Hospital in Winfield, KS until 1961. He practiced general dentistry in Wichita, KS through 1973, and in Baton Rouge, LA until he retired in 1996.

He was a founding member of the Southeast Kiwanis Club in Baton Rouge, where he was given the George Hixon Fellowship Award, and helped start many fundraisers.

He is survived by: his wife, Victoria HAMRA of Tulsa; his 2 sons, Dr. Paul HAMRA of Paris, TX and Dr. Mark HAMRA of Tulsa; his sister, Nellie HAMRA of Henryetta; as well as his grandchildren, Justin, Marissa, and Macey HAMRA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Mahanna and Sada HAMRA; his brothers, Nick, Henry, and John HAMRA; and his sisters, Adele, Blanche, and Elizabeth. He will be remembered as an outstanding Dentist, an asset to his community, a wonderful husband, and a caring father. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Heart Association.
