George was received in the Navy on December 31, 1941 in San Diego, CA with a grade of AS. On March, 31, 1942 he reported to the USS Dixie (AD-14). In June of 1942 George's grade was promoted to Sea2c.
On September 15, 1944, George boarded the USS Hope (AH-7) where he remained until October 1, 1946 when he boarded the USS Panamint. On August 28, 1946 he was aboard the USS Dionysus.
