ALVA, OKLAHOMA-Formerly of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, John William (J.W.) Lytle son of Charles Rolland and Alpha Kinney Lytle was born on March 26, 1926 in rural Finney County and passed on into Glory on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Share Medical Center at the age of 88. J.W. attended Dry Creek School in Eagle Township southwest of Medicine Lodge, Kansas. When his father died, he went to live with his Aunt Ola in southwestern Kansas. While in that area, J.W. developed and almost insatiable thirst for fountain drinks when he spotted a young lady named Barbara Caywood working as a "soda jerk" at the local drugstore in Plains, Kansas. J.W. enlisted in the Navy and served in the Pacific Theatre on the hospital ship, USS Hope. He was honorably discharged on April 20, 1946. He and Barbara were united in marriage on June 8, 1946 and to this union two children were born; daughter, Sheri Lynne; son, Rolland Jay. The family made their home in Medicine Lodge where J.W. worked as a lab man at the National Gypsum Company for many years before he retired.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Barbara Dell passed on April 23, 1990.

He is survived by his children Sheri Lynne Milburn of Branson, Missouri, Rolland Lytle and wife, Madelyn of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; step daughter, Nancy Anderson and husband, Hank of Missouri Valley, Iowa; four grandchildren Jordan Lytle and wife, Laura, Logan Lytle, Rachel Milburn and Nathan Milburn.

He is interred at Highland Cemetery in Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
