Texas B. Nelson passed quietly at home after a long battle with Alzheimers. He is survived by Martha,his wife of 60 years; daughters Rebecca Kent and husband Bill, Robin Caplinger and husband Carl Pavelka and son Texas B. Nelson Jr.; granddaughters Kim Stanton and husband Jordan Jackson and Sarah Stanton-Johnson and husband Kyle and grandson Jacob Caplinger; great grandchildren "Little Jake" and Annie Caplinger, Eli Jackson and Logan Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and two sisters.

Texas served in the Navy during WWII on the USS Hope hospital ship.

He worked for Southwestern Bell for 37 years installing telephone poles to working on the "new" teletype equipment. After retiring, he and his wife traveled all over the 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and the Carribean Islands. At the age of 62 he made a two month solo trip backpacking across Australia.

Family and friends were always very important to him. He spent much of his time playing with his kids, grandkids and then his great grandkids. He was loved very much and will be greatly missed..
