Veronica L. Oliver

Laconia-----Mrs. Veronica L. Oliver, 89, a former longtime resident of Cleveland Place, died on Sunday, December 29, 2002 at the N. H. Veterans Home in Tilton, NH where she resided for several years. Mrs. Oliver was the widow of Richard H. Oliver who died in 1987. They were married July 3, 1944.
Mrs. Oliver was born May 2, 1913 in Ashland, NH, the daughter of Joseph and Laura (Guyette) Gamache. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1932 and from the Bishop De Goesbriand Hospital School of Nursing in Burlington, Vermont, in 1938.
Mrs. Oliver was a registered nurse at the Plymouth Hospital, Plymouth, NH from 1938-1942. She was a First Lieutenant in the U. S. Army during WW II from 1942-1946 and received nine campaign stars for Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaigns and two stars for the Philippines Liberation Campaign. She is the only service woman listed on the Honor Roll in Ashland, NH.
Mrs. Oliver was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Laconia.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars #1670 of Laconia Auxiliary and the American Legion Wilkins Smith Post 1 Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include many nephews and nieces.
The family is grateful to all family members, friends and caregivers for their many acts of kindness. It might have been a card, a letter, a gift, some flowers, a visit - each individual act of caring and love greatly enhanced her declining years
Spring burial will be in the family lot in Green Grove Cemetery in Ashland, NH.
