Edward J. Reardon, 84, of Leavenworth, died Tuesday, Oct.28, 2008, at Kindred Hospital in Kansas City, MO.

He was born April 28, 1924, in Leavenworth, the son of John and Olga (Meinster) Reardon.

He graduated from Immaculata High School in 1943 and then joined the U.S. Army. He served in the Philippines where he was wounded twice and received the Purple Heart.

On Oct. 9, 1954, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Marnell at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO. She preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 1996.

After discharge from the service, Ed went to work at the Fort Leavenworth Print Shop. After retirement he went to work for the Kansas Turnpike Authority. He enjoyed big band music, dancing and Notre Dame football.

He is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Jeff) Gauger of North Canton, OH and Kevin (Gail) Reardon of Leavenworth; his siblings, Betty Matzeder of Mission, KS, and Clarence Reardon of Milton, WA; and his grandchildren, Katie, Rachel and Nathan Reardon, and Natalie and Shannon Gauger.

In addition to his wife Ed was preceded in death by five siblings, John Reardon, Mary Dyson, Frances Byrd, Anna Mae Williams and Catherine Reagan; and two grandchildren, Ben and Ryan Reardon.
